As I travel around the country for business, I hear people all over America complaining about the state of our economy and how bad it hurts.  And while most believe they have very little control over certain things such as the devaluation of property and the state of the credit market, they tend to overlook the real and effective power of the dollars they do spend.  If American consumers would dedicate more of their buying dollars towards American owned and operated businesses, then our economy would take a big turn for the good because every penny of every dollar spent is circulated back through the American economy.

As a consumer and a patriotic American, America needs more of its own dollars to stay in America. This decision will require change in one’s buying behavior and may create a little inconvenience at times. It is the only thing that will rapidly turn the American economy around by retaining current jobs and creating new ones, and by keeping every tax and profit penny right here in the USA.  Buying from foreign-owned companies can’t always be avoided and it is necessary at times; however the dollars spent on foreign owned companies and manufactured products benefits the economies of foreign countries, not ours.

Over the last 2 years, I have set out on a mission to buy the products I need from American companies who manufacture the goods in America by American workers.  I have purchased reasonably priced jeans, running shoes, a winter coat, produce, two automobiles, surfboards, t-shirts and hats to mention a few items.  My belief is to take care of America first and when and if there is excess to share, then share with USA-friendly countries only.   I realize that we live in the times of a global economy; however American dollars seem to move in one direction and that is out of American while other countries fail to reciprocate with their dollars.  I say buy America First!
